How much do I get back, if I apply for a reimbursement?

CASE STUDY 1 - Mrs Cheung    Reimbursed HK$2,400

Mrs Cheung had subscribed to a csl mobile service contract and purchased an iPad Pro 10.5 inch 512GB at a csl shop at the Undiscounted Retail Price of HK$8,388#. She had subscribed to HKT Care Gadget 360 and successfully registered for the i-GUARD Phone & Tablet Repair Plan.

6 months after taking out her plan, while Mrs Cheung was having dinner, she accidentally toppled over the water jar and the water spilled onto her iPad. Her iPad did not function properly as a result. She took the damaged tablet to Apple’s repair centre later on that day, and the staff confirmed the repair cost quotation was HK$3,000# (such amount did not exceed 75% of the tablet's Undiscounted Retail Price). She sent all the required documents to HKT Financial Services (IA) Limited (HKTIA) to proceed with the reimbursement. Her application was approved and Mrs Cheung reimbursed 80% of the repair cost, i.e HK$3,000 x 80% = HK$2,400

Repair cost reimbursed for Mrs Cheung :
HK$3,000 x 80%

 = HK$2,400

CASE STUDY 2 - Mr Ho    Reimbursed HK$6,198.80

Mr Ho has purchased a Samsung Galaxy S8+ 128GB at a 1O1O Center at the Undiscounted Retail Price of HK$6,998# and had subscribed to HKT Care Gadget 360 and successfully registered for the i-GUARD Phone & Tablet Repair Plan.

3 months after taking out his plan, Mr Ho accidentally dropped his phone and the screen was broken. He took the damaged phone to Samsung’s repair centre later on that day, and the staff confirmed the repair cost quotation was HK$2,500#(such amount did not exceed 75% of the phone's Undiscounted Retail Price). He sent all the required documents to HKTIA to proceed with the reimbursement.

After 4 months, Mr Ho’s phone was unfortunately crushed in a traffic accident. He took the damaged phone to Samsung’s repair center again, and the staff confirmed that the repair cost quotation was HK$5,800# (exceed 75% of the phone's Undiscounted Retail Price). He sent all the required documents to HKTIA to proceed with the reimbursement. His application was approved. Mr Ho then bought a new Samsung Galaxy S8+ 128GB at a 1O1O Center as replacement and reimbursed 60% of the Undiscounted Retail Price, i.e. HK$6,998 x 60% = HK$4,198.80.

Since Mr Ho’s phone was Total Damage (repair cost exceed 75% of the phone's Undiscounted Retail Price), his i-GUARD Phone&Tablet Repair Plan was terminated after the reimbursement was settled.

Total cost reimbursed for Mr Ho :
HK$2,500 x 80% + HK$6,998 x 60%
= HK$2,000 + HK$4,198.80

= HK$6,198.80
